One of life’s last great surprises
Aura and I are really excited to welcome our first child into our family sometime around August 18. A lot of people have asked us, “Do you know what you’re having?” We decided that we’re going to wait and find out when the baby is born.
“Do you know what you’re having?”
-Everyone
It’s been tempting to find out. At an ultrasound appointment they gave us a sealed envelope that has the sex written on it. How could we not want to know what it is?! That envelope is in the baby’s crib; it’s still sealed.
Ultrasounds are amazing.
Now, they have the capabilities to do 3D ultrasounds. They printed a few pictures for us to take home as a souvenir. We put our favorite picture in a frame and when the baby is born we will write its name, birth date and time and weight on it.
Preparation
You realize when you find out you’re having a baby that there’s a lot you need to do. The baby needs a room to sleep in, a crib and about a million other things… It also needs a name.
Picking a name is hard. We still haven’t fully decided on one. It’s a big deal because your child will be called that name his or her whole life. Besides being born, being named is probably the next most important thing in your life.
Baby shower
After about 30 weeks, we’ve got a lot done. It was time to have the baby shower. My parents were kind enough to host the shower at their home. They live on a beautiful farm that was perfect for an outdoor shower.
Aura and the moms planned for weeks getting everything organized. We were lucky to have such a nice day for it. We had a great time celebrating with everyone and got lots of great gifts to help us with the baby.
Thank you to everyone.
