A great view of the Susquehanna
One of the great features along the Northwest river trail between Marietta and Bainbridge is the White Cliffs of Conoy.
These unique cliffs are a waste product from a nearby quarry that once flourished. The white, stone-like material makes you feel like you’re walking on the moon.

The White Cliffs of Conoy
Despite being a waste product, the cliffs are a sight to see and yield a great view of the Susquehanna River.
There is a lot of interesting history that accompanies the cliffs. As you ride along the trail you will see the remnants of what used to be a small river town that was known as Billmyer.
Reading more into the history of Billmyer, perhaps it’s better the town doesn’t exist anymore.
