My job

I am a full-time digital graphic journalist for the York Daily Record. My primary responsibilities are to produce videos and motion graphics to enhance storytelling. I also produce infographics and promotional material.

Like most jobs in the media industry, working for the newspaper is deadline driven. Deadlines are one of the things I like most about what I do because they keeps things moving. The wide variety of work I get to do keeps my job fun and interesting.

I am also available for freelance work on evenings and weekends.

I’m always learning

It’s becoming more important to have a broad skill set, especially in the media industry. Technology advancements are making it easier for anyone to take good pictures, edit videos and make graphics. To be the best at what I do, I put a lot of effort into making sure I’m up to date on current trends, technology and software.

When I’m not working

I live in Lancaster County in the small town of Marietta with my wife, Aura, our newborn baby girl, Maren, and our dog, Leo. On weekends, we like to work around the house and hang out with friends.

Rock climbing is a big passion of mine. Lancaster County is home to some great bouldering areas like Mount Gretna and Governor Stable. On the weekends or after work you can often find me in the woods trying to climb the most difficult boulders.
